Hey kids! Great show coming up this Thursday, May 21st at Carrollton Station! Andrew Duhon and John Michael Rouchell (of MyNameIsJohnMichael) will be playing a joint solo show this Thursday with some acoustic versions of their original tunes, as well as a joint set of Andrew and JM playing on each others’ songs! This will be a great preview of the full band show coming up at Tipitina’s on June 25th! The Carrollton Station show is FREE, so no excuses! See you there!

Hello hello from ECF Music headquarters (which is realistically my laptop). Quite the productive day on the Duhon train today. I am very pleased to announce that Andrew Duhon’s CD “Songs I Wrote Before I Knew You” is now available locally at The Mushroom, Louisiana Music Factory, and Peaches Records. Not only that, but Peaches has been so kind as to allow us to come do an in-store on Friday, March 27th at 4:00pm to promote the show at The Parish the next night. Please stop by and say “Hi” to Andrew and pick up a copy of the CD while you’re at it! Also, check back this weekend for details on a WWOZ on-air spot next Wednesday and Saturday. Looking forward to seeing you all out at the shows next week! Enjoy the rest of SXSW and kiss an armadillo for me…I always thought they were pretty damn cute.

In the latest news, Andrew just came off the road this weekend from a week-long stint running through the deep south. Hit some venues in Mobile, Jackson, Atlanta, Birmingham, and Auburn along the way. Things have been going really well on the road. You can’t always expect a venue to be packed on your first show in a new city, but the ratio of CD’s sold to people present has been great. We’ve sold at every show he’s played, and some of these joints are becoming regular spots for Andrew. Plans are in the works for a more major tour this summer. We’ll keep you posted.

In the meantime, we’ve been working on promoting a big show in New Orleans coming up next weekend. Andrew Duhon will be headlining a show with Robin Kinchen at the House of Blues Parish Room on Saturday, March 28th. We’re all really excited about this show, and it’s going to be a great opportunity for Andrew to keep pushing “Songs I Wrote Before I Knew You.” All three of us have pre-sale tickets for $10 each, so be sure to track one of us down before next weekend! Also, you can look for a show preview in the new issue of Where Y’At Magazine, and we will be some on-air interviews coming up, as well. Andrew will only be playing major shows here every couple of months, so you don’t want to miss this one! Looking forward to seeing y’all out next weekend! So we’re back in town from Folk Alliance…enjoyed some suitably raucous times for the last couple days of Mardi Gras, and we’re ready to get back into full gear! Andrew will be playing an early set at d.b.a. on Frenchman Street tomorrow night. The show will go from 7:30 to 9:00, so come out early before you hit the late night spots! This is Andrew’s first local show since the CD Release Party, so be sure to come out and catch a great set and pick up a copy of the new CD while you’re at it. By the way…did I mention that it’s FREE??? We love to see your smiling faces…see you then!

Folk Alliance Day 4 (ish)

Alright, so tonight was officially the last night of the Folk Alliance conference. I’m exhausted. We’re exhausted. Ready to get home to my bed and my dog. The showcase tonight went well, but we went on 30 minutes late cause of the act before us running over. Nothing you can do about these things, but it certainly doesn’t help the morale. Caught the rest of the Louisiana Showcase tonight with artists like Susan Cowsill and Kim Carson. It was really good that we’re so well represented out here.

Hit some of the showcases tonight and enjoyed some free Memphis BBQ! All in all, this was a valuable and interesting experience. I’m glad we came up, and we’ll know better what to do and what not to do next time around. It’s 3am…I haven’t slept more than 4 hours in 4 days, so I’m going to bed. We head out in the morning…Mardi Gras here we come!

Folk Alliance – Day 3 (and a half)

I’m having trouble remembering exactly what went on yesterday…all the days are starting to run together as one. We caught some more panels yesterday on various different subjects. Andrew played a private showcase in the afternoon where we had a really great audience of some friends we’ve made here at Folk Alliance. We’ve got some nice pictures from that show. I wandered around a bit to catch some of the official showcases in the afternoon, and I’ve been intrigued by this Swedish all-girl band called Baskery. Pretty crazy stuff.

We had a really cool opportunity to go check out a live webcast on an internet radio station at Memphis’ Ardent Studios…incredible recording studio with some really great space. Andrew’s friends Raina Rose and Cory Branan we’re going some sets for the program. We’re hoping to do a show next time Andrew rolls through Memphis. It’s been really great to meet some of the people who are really on top of this conference. Good guides to the Alliance.

Last night was typically late and always interesting. Andrew managed to catch a last minute showcase at 2am, standing in for one of the other musicians who was sick. This was a cool little deal since it was a round with some of the other cats here. The rest of the night is a bit of a blur. After getting kicked out of the lobby for sleeping on a couch, we pretty much called it a night and got back in the wee morning hours to catch a few hours before heading out again this morning.

Caught a panel or two this morning on management and radio promotion, which were both pretty informative and helpful. Just got back to the hotel after a lovely meatball subway, and Andrew’s doing some practicing and preparing before the big official showcase tonight. I’m really looking forward to that one, and you can bet on some good pictures from that. Who knows what tonight will bring, but we’ll be rolling out early tomorrow morning to hopefully (fingers crossed) be back for Bacchus. We’re getting a little delerious around here from lack of sleep and total immersion in music, but it’s all a good thing. Signing off for now…

Folk Alliance – Day 2(ish)

So I woke up this morning to Andrew singing “Simply heaven. Wonderful Christmas-time.” Yeah…it was that kind of night. Yesterday was decidedly more active than Wednesday. We hit up a panel or two during the day and had a really great opportunity to pitch Andrew’s act to some regional venues. Cool idea. Andrew did a private showcase in the Soonasongs room during the day that went well. We’ve been getting really positive feedback from everyone we’ve run into so far.

The night concerts last night were really different. We saw an incredible performance by Bela Fleck and fellow banjo player and singer, Abigail Washburn. We were literally about 3 rows away from Bela Fleck, and he totally looks like your resident IT guy at some 9-5 place…really cool, laid-back guy. The night concerts included a great performance by New Orleans’ own John Boutte. Nice to see us being well represented down here. One of my favorite private showcases that we caught was by this Austin band called Porterdavis…really cool, soulful stuff. Looking forward to hopefully trading some gigs with them in the future.

Today is going to be some madness, and since we found the free booze last night, it’s been a bit of a slow morning so far. My back is pretty much shot from sleeping in the car and sleeping in a Motel 6…only the best. Looking forward to some free chiropractic services from MusicCares while here. Gotta get out of here and go set up my caffeine IV so I can make it through the day. Pictures to come later…
